...the sweetest, most loving dog you could ever imagine.
she's been kinda out of it for a while. she isnt eating very well and jus havent been her own cheery self. and she's started to snore no matter what she's doing. she's always gryntet alot when she gets excited and stuff, but now she can sit up straight on the floor and sound like she's sleeping.
So when we took her to the vet to get her yearly vaccine, we asked her to give her a more thorough check. she couldnt find anything wrong with her, and she thought that the snoring was just from old age. she's no pup anymore, being nine years old and all. but she wanted to do some blood work on her to be safe. this was tuesday. when she called with the answer she was very concerned, because she had a very high number of white blood cells - meaning she was fighting an infection. she was afraid that she could have an infection in the uterus (i dont know the medical terms in english), so she wanted us to keep a close eye on her until today, when they were both going in again to get their teeth cleaned, so she would do more tests and probably do an ultrasound to check her over.
at 2.15 today i got the worst phonecall ever. both dogs had come around from the anesthesia well..... but... they found a large tumor in the back of Zita's mouth. and tumors in the mouth are almost always malignant. at this point i just couldnt talk any more, so we had to talk some more when we got down there.
even if its not malignant, there is no way of removing it, nothing to do. if we are very lucky, we could get another year with her, but my gut feeling is saying she probably wont see another summer. she's already having trouble breathing, and we have to soak up her food, and still she's having trouble eating. we'll see if we can find a wet feed she can eat, but she has alot of allergies as well, and the feed shes using now is the only one i've found that she can eat without breaking out in hives.
this day sucks!
