I've been around for about two months now, and I know I left for a good portion of that and rather aburptly and probably randomly.
Going on eight months now my father was killed in the line of duty while serving on the mounted patrol. He was shot in a drive by while working in a new horse. Two bullets hit him in the chest and leg, and the horse was struck several times. Recently, they've been able to catch up to the murderers and that's mostly the reason I left. I was dealing with trials and related things. Now, it's mostly settled. They have a final trial in... a month? I think. Once that's done... it's done. In a way, I want it to be over. But I also dont. It being over is the final closer my family and I want, but it's also the final goodbye to my father.
He was the reason I started riding. I was six, seven, eight... somewhere in there... when he took me to the barn. I visited Spicy, the gelding he was riding then. I loved him off the bat, and though I visited Spicy once or twice a week, I never rode him. Dad found Hillview and enrolled me in "lifetime" lessons. My lessons started with the usual horse safety, saddling, grooming, and horse care. I learned to ride western. I learned how to keep my balance, walk, trot/jog, canter/lope. I learned how to please judges, even, and before I was eleven I had my first blue ribbon. My whole family would come out to any show I was in.
I live with my mom and oldest brother as of right now. I am leaving for college in the fall (though not really "leaving"). Im moving in with a friend after the trial so im closer to the college. I plan on studying accounting, something I've been interested in for a while, and it's also what my mom does.
Jerry, Tim, and Steve, my older brothers, take me camping alot. We go everywhere, pretty much. I've been up to Alaska with them, though were werent camping . 99.9% of the time we're out horseback riding. Erick will let us take horses and go.
Johnny, the only kid younger than me, just finished eighth grade and is starting high school. He's dyslexic and loves to ride. My mare, Sarah, has already become his!
I work and ride and pretty much live at Hillview when I can. Its a nice farm specializing in pleasure horses that compete in breed associations and in the National Snaffle Bit Association. They have a horse or two competing in the International Buckskin Horse Association even.
My current mare is a registered American Appendix Horse with about three fourths Quarter Horse blood and one fourth Thoroughbred blood. She's somewhat spunky but is never too hard to handle. I've been putting Johnny up on her and they get along perfectly.
I also "have" a colt nicknamed Suds. He was hurt today in the pasture but is expected to make a full recovery. Erick is letting me train him, with his help of course . If all goes well, Suds will be the first homebred stallion that Erick will own. I plan to help him get Suds to top level.
I think that's mostly my story...
