I feel horrible that I joined up here and out of nowhere just kind of left. I want you to know that me being gone for quite some time without a warning was not intentional.
If you remember my introduction thread, you'd know that I had a mare with cancer. She was put down on January 7th, 2012. Even though she had cancer and we knew it was going to happen eventually, I was not expecting to walk out to the pasture one day to see her leg completely torn up down to the bone. I had to make the quick decision to either go ahead and put her down or let her heal, which would use up what energy she had left that the cancer had not eaten up. So, I made the heart-wrenching decision to put her down. She's in a better place now with no tumors, no leg injuries, and most importantly, no pain.
Also, my father has CLL, which is a form of Leukemia. Originally, the doctors told my father he could possibly go a few years without chemo because his type of Leukemia is supposedly slowly progressing. Well, about 4 months after he was diagnosed, he had to start chemo. He actually did this last week, and luckily for me my Spring Break is this week so I can take care of him. He's doing fairly well. He has his good and bad days, but overall is handling it well. My mom was originally going to be the one taking care of him, but her MS (Multiple Sclerosis) is giving her more and more difficulty, so it's up to me.
AND on a more positive note (sorry for the dreadful content above), I am currently in the process of enlisting in the United States Navy! I've thought LONG and HARD about this, and even though I don't turn 18 until April 13 of this year, I have already got some stuff ready (like my security clearance and what not) so when I do turn eighteen I can hit the ground running.
So, sorry for the long read. I just didn't want all of you to think that I was a temporary person on here. I'm not promising I'm going to be here hours out of each day, but I am trying to dedicate more time to SIMing.
Have a wonderful day! Tiffany

I am so sorry for all the problems you've been having in real life lately. I hope that your father is doing well right now and that the chemo helps him out!
Congrats on the Navy! Do you know what your mos (I'm not sure what the navy call's it...I've got tons of army experience lol) is going to be?

Wow Tiffany...the words I'm Sorry really just don't equal what you deserve here. I really am sorry to hear about all the problems you've been though...and I really wish the best for your family. And seriously...real life comes first before sim, and we all understand if you have to focus on that.

Congrats on the Navy! Do you know what your mos (I'm not sure what the navy call's it...I've got tons of army experience lol) is going to be? He is doing well. Luckily his cancer is not as aggressive as most, but the fact that he's gone from working 12+ hours a day to getting tired after 2-3 hours of light work out in the yard (like watering flowers or something simple) is really taking a toll on him. I think his boredom is getting to him more than the side effects. Bless him. lol. Thanks! They are called ratings in the Navy. I don't know yet. As soon as I turn 18 my recruiter is going to get me a date for MEPS (you might know what this is, but if you don't it's basically where they check you physically, give the ASVAB, and stuff like that to make sure your qualify) and I'll know my job as soon as I go to that. I would really looovveee to be an EOD tech (which surprisingly they let girls do!), but I have to be in TOP shape to do that. If EOD does not come up, I would like to be a Corpsman (Navy nurse). Wow Tiffany...the words I'm Sorry really just don't equal what you deserve here. I really am sorry to hear about all the problems you've been though...and I really wish the best for your family. And seriously...real life comes first before sim, and we all understand if you have to focus on that. Well, I just try to remember that in my opinion, everything happens for a reason, and everything that has been happening is simply making me a stronger person.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear this![/b] I am very very familiar with EOD. I've been with my husband since he joined the army in 2006 and he is an EOD Tech. He absolutely loves his job. If you have any questions about it, let me know, I'd be happy to pass them on to him and see if I can't get him to answer some of them. He loves to talk to the people that are looking into EOD and answer any questions that they may have Good luck with it hon! I hope you are able to get EOD...it's a great career with some really extensive and often times grueling training. Bless his heart. I can imagine that the boredom is getting to him, especially with being as active as it sounds like he was. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers.[/size]

I've found that it is really hard to find EOD Techs to actually ask questions to! If some questions come up, I'll definitely send them y'alls way because I really do like to be informed on something rather than diving in blindfolded. Thanks so much!

No problem hon! I'm glad to help out where I can. I will say though, that Steven is deploying in October, so any questions around that time, may be slow to get an answer to
Good luck at MEPs, I hope EOD does come up for you...it's one of the hardest jobs to get into. Getting it at MEPs is just the first step...the training is almost (for army anyway...it may be a bit longer for Navy because of the underwater training that is involved with it) a year long and is the toughest and most grueling AIT training in the military. Once you've gotten into EOD, you'll be joining an amazing family. We've been EOD since Steven joined in 2006 and the family feel to the units we've been in is just incredible!

I've been told it is gruesome. I'd like to believe that I am a pretty motivated individual that does not give up easily, though, so I hope I can get it and make it through it. I think it is quite a bit easier to get into it in the Navy than the Army, but I know it is still difficult. If it doesn't come up, I'll take everything in stride because I know my job choice relies on the needs of the Navy.
