So I tried googling it and I'm confused lol
What breeds/cross percentages are allowed for Dutch Harness Horses? I'd like to make a couple but I'm not sure what breeds I can use aside from Dutch x Dutch crossings.
Could I use a Hackney/Arabian crossed with a Dutch Warmblood among other things? I'm wondering because I'd like to create a foal using my real life mares pedigree lmao She's 50% Arabian and 50% Hackney.

I believe Arabians crossed with DHH's will result in a DHH foal as well as Saddlebred x DHH's will result in DHH babies. I'm not 100% certain on this, so you may want to check with Jules

Oh okay. Cause I heard a lot of Hackneys are being used and I remembered hearing you guys say Arabians were used but I just don't know what they appropriate cross really is.
When I checked the American Dutch Harness Horse Association if basically said any horse was allowed to cross... that sounds so suspicious to me though and I think I'd prefer to stick with the European standards.

Hackneys were a HUGE part of getting the DHH started years and years ago (where else were they going to get that high trot)... But Tessa was correct in stating that ASB and Arabs are used now adays as well. Also, KWPN or Dutch Warmbloods are also used to broaden lines. If you were to cross on a DW I would suggest using a very flashy trotting breed (hackney or DHH) and not saddlebreds or arabs.
