So, for those of you that don't know, my wonderful hubby allowed me to get another horse.
I ended up finding a beautiful mare. She's a 2000 black quarter horse mare with her AQHA Appendix Certificate. Her name is Detailed In Diamonds, aka Eclipse. She's sired by Last Detail and out of the thoroughbred mare Oh Do Tell (x Tasu Jack). This is her pedigree. She is currently in foal to It's All About Blue. She stands at 16h tall.
I got her the beginning of February, but I wasn't able to go pick her up until yesterday. We made the 10 hour trip to Ohio and the 10 hour trip back. Eclipse did wonderfully in the trailer after she got settled down. We got home early this morning, unloaded her and got her bedded down in her stall. She's been doing great so far. I spent about 2 hours in her stall tonight grooming her and getting to know her. She's currently muddy because it's been to cold and wet in Ohio to get her a bath. Tomorrow, I'm going to take out a bucket of warm water and sponge off as much of it as I can.
She's had two foals so far. Her first foal was a black filly sired by Willy Be Invited who was foaled in 2005. Her second foal is a chestnut colt (last on page named I Know Who I Am) sired by BR I Am and he was foaled in 2010. I'm excited to see what she throws in April!
Unfortunately she's only brood mare sound because she had a pasture accident as a foal that left her sound enough to only be ridden occasionally. One of her first owners used to trail ride her about once a month or so, so Im thinking we may be aiming at doing some trail riding once baby gets here and is weaned.
So far, I'm in love! She's quiet, even though she's a bit anxious being in a new place. She isn't pushy or spooky when she's anxious. I think as time goes on and she gets used to me, I think I'm going to fall more in love with her lol.
Here are some pictures of her. Please excuse the spots, the barn is dusty and dirty and I think that's what caused them. I wiped the lense off, but it didn't help any. The pictures don't do her any justice either. I'll get better ones once I've got her cleaned up even more and possibly have a chance to get her outside.
