I was doing some work in the ASWA information board, and discovered I never got an "Official" acceptable list of warmblood breeds posted. Being that the association has been around for 2 years, I think it's high time it get one!.
This is what was posted in another thread in the info board by a couple ther members : (thank you)
American Warmblood Danish Warmblood Canadian Warmblood Dutch Warmblood Swedish Warmblood Norwegian Warmblood Hungarian Warmblood Bavarian Warmblood Iberian Warmblood Czech Warmblood Kinsky Warmblood Hanovarian Holstein Oldenburg Rhinelander Trakehner Selle Francais Cleveland Bay Westphalian Knapstrupper Irish Sport Horse Groningen Gelderlander Fredriksborg Kisber Felver Kladruby Latvian Warmblood Wielkopolski Württemburger Zweibrücker Brandenburger Mecklenburger Swiss Warmblood Austrian Warmblood Freiberger Belgian Warmblood Zangersheide Salerno German Warmblood Warmblood crosses - Any horse with at least 50% blood of one of the approved breeds may enter
While I'm doing some of my own research, I'm sure there are lesser known breeds out there that may pull in some interest.
Additionally: I'm considering redoing the classlist.. again, yes, i know. There is a TON of competition, and I'm loving seeing how bi the classes are getting. I want to do a couple things, and I'd love some feedback.
*Add tests to the dressage levels probably only 2 or 3 for each level *Add "rounds" to the jumper classes - maybe a gamblers round *add driving division *add prospect division (2 and under will be eligible) *add performance halter (limited to age/gender - Jr Mare, Sr Mare, etc)
Is there anything else members would like to see? Suggestions for additional classes or changes to the current class list?

Fantastic! I really know nothing about warmbloods, have just collected a few over time, so this helps out heaps! I see that German Warmbloods aren't on the list. I bought one ages ago. Is that because German Warmbloods are known as something else? Also, I have a couple of Arabian x Warmbloods (for example, this mare who is half KWPN). Would they be eligible to compete, and if so, what as? Arabian Warmbloods? Sporthorses? Something else entirely? XD

german warmbloods are not - as far as i know - known as something else... I'll add them to the list.
As far as arab warmbloods go - so long as the horse is at least half of one of the breeds listed up there ^ they can show - same for sporthorses. Have to have at least one parent who is an approved warmblood

What about Gelderlanders? Would they be eligible for entry in the ASWA?

Hmm. As far as I know, the Marwari breed can be considered a Warmblood type. It's a light horse that can preform in many of the disciplines Warmbloods are used for, preferably Dressage. And are commonly crossed with Thoroughbreds which makes a more Warmblood-ey (?) type animal

If Marwari's are allowed, shouldn't Kathiawari be too? It's similar to Marwari's =) I think >< As well as Akhal Tekes.

i dont know about the others, but Akhal Tekes are hotbloods, like the tb and the arab. edit: from what i can find, both the Marwari and the Kathiawari are hotbloods too. but what about the Arabian Warmblood? not exactly a "true" wb breed, but i love them

Marwari and Kathawari are both considered hotbloods in my opinion - and they will not be allowed to compete in the aswa (which kinda is poopy cuz i have some that need a assoc, but they'll live)
As far as arabian warmbloods go - they are allowed, but I'm allowing them under Warmblood Crosses. So long as one of the parents is an approved warmblood - they can definitely show!
No one has an opinion on the class list?

I say make the class list bigger When I was running it, I "remodeled" the list because there wasn't much interest in the ASWA and it was such a pain to have to put in every class in the old randomizers lol. With Indiza's new spiffy randomizer, it makes running the show easier and the member master lists are upping the entries in all of the shows. So Im all for increasing the class list
