This issue came to my attention with the recent opening of both the Sim Horse Trials Association and the All Sim Eventing Association.
In some sim games over showing involves entering an unrealistic or unhealthy number of shows/classes in a given time period, usually a month, within the entire game. So you're limited to maybe two associations worth of shows for most disciplines.
In others, over showing is only judged per show or association, so it's entering an unrealistic or unhealthy number of shows or classes in a single association in one month, and what else that horse is entering in the game doesn't matter, the horse can enter any number of different associations in a month, as long as in any single association it isn't entered in too many shows/classes.
I'm wondering how people judge this here. Would a horse be over showing if they entered multiple eventing competitions in one month in different associations? Or should we be more realistic and think about what a horse could really do in a month, like maybe single competitions a month (at the higher level at least) in a single association? This particularly comes to mind with eventers, with whom it takes a long time to build a show record because realistically they can't/don't show as often as horses in other disciplines. But also, with so many associations in SAI some horses definitely have the opportunity to compete in like half a dozen associations in a single month, some of which host multiple shows each months.
Any thoughts?
