Two questions.
#1
Currently each division has five classes - Junior Stallions, Junior Mares, Senior Stallions, Senior Mares and Open. I just noticed that the Junior classes are 4-7YO and the Senior classes are 8YO+. Most associations have Junior classes that are 4-6YO, and this is common practice in real life as well. How do you feel about changing the Junior classes to 4-6YO and the Senior classes to 7YO+ to better jive with the other associations? (such as the ASSHA and AHAC)
Note: If the ages are changed, it will not go into affect until the March shows are posted, which should give everybody enough time to move any 7YOs they have into the Senior classes on their lists.

The points and earnings system has been bugging me for awhile. It was changed in late 2008 from the original points and earnings system, but now it makes it much harder for a horse to title in the assocations. Too hard, I feel. We have a chunk of horses on the Known Titled Horses and Top Earns lists that have a tremendous amount of points and earnings because they showed so much with the previous system, however newer horses that have only shown with the current system take twice as long to title up and even longer now because the class sizes are so big. The Known Titled Horses and Top Money Earners lists are meant to be competitive, but their isn't any competition because it takes forever to title. I'm not talking about going back to the old system, because it only gives horses points/earnings through 6th place. The new system would give points/earnings for Ch, RCh and 1st-10th (TT) but it would be slightly (not tremendously) higher than the current system. My main reason for considering for this is because of what I mentioned above: the classes are larger now, which means horses are placing less but still getting the same amount of points/earnings, I feel they should receive a higher payback for placing; and because the current system makes it harder for a horse to title in a reasonable amount of time. What do you think of bumping the points and earnings up a bit?
Thoughts?
