Hey ladies, I've got a few announcements for the 2011 year.
On January 1st, 2011 SAI will be going into maintenance mode. The staff members of SAI are so far behind in a lot of things that we have to do, that we've made the joint decision to put SAI on hold for 2 weeks to a month to get caught up on everything. All results for shows that I'm hosting will hopefully be up before the 1st. SAI will come back "online" on the 15th of January or the 1st of February...depending on when all staff members get caught up with their "to-do" lists. It would be best to collect any results that you need to collect now, because they will be unavailable after the 1st.
Im also thinking about closing down the general show area of SAI. With all of the associations hosted here at SAI (many of them open breed) and the volume of shows that get run by myself and the other staff ladies, Im thinking it would be bets that they closed. They aren't getting near the attention or amount of entries that they used to and many people have said that they only show in associations. What are your thoughts or opinions on this?

On top of that, if any shows are ran during the maintenance mode, I can post them in the WF Archives for members, so that you may collect them immediately. And don't worry - it won't be the end of the world because you'll still have WF and WWS to go be wild children at.

I agree with the open shows thing. I show exclusively in associations/clubs/registries. It's more fun for me personally to show in an association or whatever it may be and be able to earn a title of said association/club/registry.

I understand about the open shows, however I will be sad to see them go. I do show in the open shows as well as the associations. As a fairly new simmer, it is nice to have a place to rack up some more show results for your new horses, and much less intimidating than some of the associations who have TONs of entries.
But like I said I completely understand, I know most people don't show in them and feel differently about them than I do. SAI does have a Great deal of associations which is impressive to say the least so it is probably tons of work just keeping up on those.

I haven't had to the chance to dabble my way into the association shows yet, but I was planning on doing so anyways (especially the RCHA). I would have no problem starting to show there because I've noticed that quite a few people are selling/breeding horses that they want to remain active in these associations.

I completely understand what you're saying Shay. I was just looking to see if anyone was still interested in the shows. How about one of these options?
A I close down the general shows, but run one big show every two weeks that covers at least the basics of each discipline? That would cut down on the amount of work that I have to do and still give those that aren't ready for associations a place to show.
B I do like what WF was doing and just host a show or two at a time that are different disciplines and "cycle" through them like that?

I think I might be the only staff member who does show in open shows. I'm fine with not having them. I'm fine with whatever is easier for you Tessa.

Honestly for the amount of time it takes, and since most people seem fine with the general shows being stopped all together I understand if you want to just not do them, truly I do.
If there were enough people that would show in the open shows still, than either option (maybe B would be easier for you?) would work. Doing a show twice a week still seems like a lot of work to me Tessa, and I do not want you to have too much on your plate you already do so much for us simmers.
Maybe you could just do them when you have extra time and not on a schedule or anything. Or maybe you stop doing them, but keep open the public open show area, and those of us who still want open shows will just run them ourselves? That way much less work for you and still some open shows for everyone? I would try to do some maybe once a month or more if I have the time.
I don't know just trying to think of other options that would still give you more time....I know SAI is a ton of work!

Either option I'm down with. Like Shay I enjoy the open shows because the associations are so crowded with entries half my horses would almost never get any results, and I don't really have the extra time to run around and find other boards to go show at. I like SAI because of the open shows and variety of associations all with one login, keeps things more simple for me As long as there's some form of an open show to enter, I'll be thrilled, doesn't matter if it's with option A or B, whichever works best for you.

Okay, so how about this. I close down the open shows and keep the public show spot open? I will continue to host a few small shows a month as well as allow other people to host shows if they'd like to? I have no problems still hosting a few small shows, but in all honesty, hosting a huge batch of shows every two weeks or so with only 3 people entered in them is a waste of time for me. I, however, have no problem with hosting a few small shows ever month though
