So, I've decided to no longer use pictures. I've gone through and edited Fiesta a bit to reflect these changes and am curious what everyone thinks. Mainly the Breeding, At Stud, Competing and Prospects pages and then the horse pages themselves in general. Does everything look good to you? simdirectory.com/ashlee/fiesta/index.phpI still have to reformat a couple of the pages, like the About page and remove the image tags from the Current Residents sections etc. But besides that, does everything look good to you? Fiesta was popping up a lot on Google Search and it was just starting to get me worried too much. Last thing I need is a lawsuit over a picture being used for a fake horse. So I took the leap I didn't think I ever would and decided to remove pictures completely. I had three inquiries in a week regarding the site. One from the owner of Matt Dillon Dun It, one from the former owner of the real dam of one of my horses and one from a person who thought I was trying to run a real stable through my site and using pictures of famous horses to try and rip people off.

That's unfortunate that three people contacted you in one week. I understand your motive behind removing photos since I'm on the fence and debating if I should take the plunge as well. On that note, I think it looks great even without the photos. Your sim babies are high quality and don't need photos to prove that, that's for sure. But playing the devil's advocate, you could use this to keep your site from showing up on search results... www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=93710&from=61050&rd=1I use it and it works for me.

Sadly, I already added a robots.txt file several weeks ago and it hasn't done anything for me. Supposedly it takes a couple of weeks for it to come into effect, but it still pops up for me every time I search it. Some bots also ignore robots files. Plus, thinking about it, I don't mind that it pops up on Google Search and would almost prefer it does at least. I know I use it a lot if I'm looking for a horse's page that may have gotten moved or sold, and it's helped me a lot in the past. I don't want to take that option away from people if they're looking for a page and I own the horse or maybe have the link to the page they're looking for on my site. I'm actually starting to really like the site now that I changed it. Personally, I think it almost looks better and cleaner this way.

I love your website Ashlee I think it looks fine without images. I, too, am debating if I want to take the plunge... plus it's hard for me to find images I really like lol. I just can never code it nice enough. >.<

Thank you Shelly. I've gotten so picky about images over the past few years that it was a pain finding a picture. For real, I would take an hour just to find a picture that would work for a Sorrel Cutter because it would have to be "perfect." Haha. I've also had other simmers save photos directly from my site to use for their Sim horses. Which irritates me to no end, so I just decided to heck with it.

Yea, I know how that goes. Whenever I look for Palominos I get really picky. It has to be the perfect one, not too light or a wrong shade lol.

Ash the site looks awesome of course! Pictures can be a nice addition to a page, but honestly are not something I tend to look at. I've actually been debating this week about putting up a post and getting a discussion going about the pictures. I have a whole list of sites that allow me to use them, but I don't know if I even want to bother with them anymore. I only go through my sites every 6 months or so to find pictures lol.
