Hey all,
Is there any interest in a Rare Breeds Association? I know people are not really a fan of these associations, since, from what i've heard, they've never been successful. I was just thinking about looking at everyone's stables and seeing what breeds have three or less breeders.. and then that breed would be added to a list of horses/ponies/donkeys/mules that would be able to compete in the association. I'm not sure if crossbreds/sporthorses[ponies] would be allowed to the association, but if there is enough interest, crossbreds and sport ponies/horses would be allowed.
If there is really no interest in this association, then that's fine. But hey, adding rare or unknown breeds to your bloodlines can improve conformation/color/suitability. Butchyeah, this is merely an idea. :]

Hummm... the only breeds I have that are not popular are Bavarian & Iberian WB's, although i'm not sure they'd be classified as rare...

I have same as Meaghan, just one or two of Bavarians, Hungarians and Iberian WB's. I do have Northswedish horses, which is rare in the sim world. I think I'm the only one having/breeding them actually >< I haven't seen anyone else.

I think its a shame there isnt a rare breeds club. I have a herd of iberians, a few caspians, and a herd of aztecas.

I'd love to participate if one was created. It would probably also give me more incentive to get some lesser known breeds, too.

The rare breeds association has been tried quite a few times and it has, unfortunately, never succeeded. I do have a question, what if a breed started off being rare and then all of a sudden everyone had some and they weren't "rare" anymore. What would happen in that situation?
I don't honestly think a rare breed association is something I would participate in right away. If it were active and stayed active for like six months or longer, I may consider participating

Rather than working on a "x amount of stables own a certain breed to make it rare" thing, could you instead just work on the assumption that only recognised "rare" breeds can participate- eg. Marwaris and Caspians are considered to be rare breeds, because there are so few of them in the world today. That could solve the problem that Tessa brought up.

So if a rare breed association is created, it should be based on real life rare breeds and not just breeds that are rare in sim. I would probably enter any of mine that were eligible. I mostly have common breeds but I do have a couple that would be considered rare, and I might be convinced to get a few more.

Alright, so I'm assuming that there is sufficient interest in a Rare Breeds Association? I have a ton of rare breeds, so I'm happy that people are interested. There most likely aren't going to be breed or color classes, unless of course there is a special show going on. Uhm, I'm going to create a class list and 'accepted breeds' list in the next few days, so when I post it you all can add your own opinions and suggestions. Thanks everyone!
