I thought it might be helpful if I added some general information about some of the classes offered within the SHA.
Jumpers
Puissance
Is a jumping class that consists of a maximum of five rounds. The first round has four to six obstacles. Each round after that has a spread wall (which is wide) and the puissance wall (which is tall). The wall gets higher with each round.
Six-Bar
Is a jumping class with six fences placed on a straight line. This class consists of rounds where horses are eliminated after knocking down any rails. Rails are raised after every round more than one horse rides clean until you have a winner.
Gambler's Choice
The rider chooses their own course. The winner is chosen based on the difficulty of their course completed within the set amount of time.
Limit
Is for any horse who has less than 6 CH wins in any jumping class within the SHA.
Three Day Eventing
General Info
Showing that takes places over three days with one Dressage, one Show Jumping and one Cross Country competition. Horse that places the highest over those three days wins. Please note that the highest levels of eventing have horses competing at roughly Third Level Dressage and Level 5 Jumping.
CCI*/****
These are international level competitions. They are roughly equal to:
CCI* - Preliminary
CCI** - Intermediate
CCI*** - Advanced
CCI**** - only for the best international competitors.
Horse Trials
Same as Three Day Eventing but is completed over the course of one day. Courses are a little easier than the ones you would find at Three Day Eventing shows.
CIC*/***
Same as CCI but apply to Horse Trials.
Combined Test
Any two parts of Eventing.
