With 2012, SAI looks to expand a bit farther. We are pleased to announce the following associations coming to SAI in March 2012.
Endurance Ride Club Arabian Race Association Harness Race Association Gymkhana Club
Jules & I have also begun talking about opening a Dutch Harness Horse Society and we were wanting to find out the interest in it. Would anyone be interested in a Dutch Harness Horse Society or in getting some DHH's in their barns?

I've actually been debating getting into the Stock/Arabian racing scene, seeing as I have a few racing lined horses in my barn but I don't know if I will lol I'm not too into driving and such so I probably wouldn't join in the DHH thing but it sounds like fun

DHH's are actually a lot more versatile than most people think. They do excel in the saddleseat classes, but they also can compete in some sport horse events because they are a KWPN cross

To expand on Tessa's post about the DHH's, and to hopefully entice some of you ladies... Dutch harness horses are a warmblood, albeit a high stepping one. They are Groningens and Gelderlanders crossed with Arabians and Saddlebreds. They are a fine-harness type of horse, however when crossed with KWPN (Dutch Warmbloods) they can make great English Disciplined horses. All the DHH's I've ever met in RL have been driving horses, this is what they're bred for. However they are a versatile breed. One of our old DHH's was going to become a jumper (except his hooves were too darn big to get over the higher jumps - grand prix level). They were founded in the Netherlands around world war II, and go by either Dutch harness Horse, or Tuigpaard. In general, this breed is considered very hot (though not bad tempered), and react strongly to a crowd (you can see this in a few youtube videos... boy do those studs strut their stuff when the crowd goes off!). If you want to read some more... this article is very helpful (gotta love Wiki!)

Also... The DHH is named in much the same way Friesians are... First letters of their names are based on what year they were born in:
"Dutch Warmbloods/KWPN's, Dutch Harness Horses, and Gelderlanders are named alphabetically based on the year of birth; the letters 'Q', 'X', and 'Y' are not used." 1992: K 1993: L 1994: m 1995: N 1996: O 1997: P 1998: R 1999: S 2000: T 2001: U 2002: V 2003: W 2004: Z 2005: A 2006: B 2007: C 2008: D 2009: E 2010: F 2011: G 2012: H 2013: I

I really want to see a youtube video. I wont lie, my real life mare gets really excited when she gets to show off infront of ANYONE (she's such an attention wh***) so when I heard they were the same way I sorta grew a slight fondness for them lol It was a quality that made my mare a lot of fun to ride and show.

Well thank you Nessa... I like to think so. They're fabulous in RL - We had 10 of them a few years ago, which is what made me bring them into the sim world. If there's enough interest in this DHHS, Tessa and I will be working toward holding an auction or sale of some sort once we have all the information ready. Nessa I assume we can count you in favor of the DHHS? Heather, how bout you, do I need to do anything else to convince you?
