Saraid Gypsy Cobs is proud to exclusively offer a legend of old-style SIM for stud. This stallion has been competing in SIM since 2002.
A legend returns, in the form of the spectacular stallion, Springwell Druid. Once upon a time one of the most successful, and well-known Irish Draughts to ever grace Equine Sense before its closure in 2006, he is finally pulled from obscurity to once again make his mark on future generations of competitive horses.
THE STALLION: A successful competitor since early 2002 (possibly before, though my records only span back this far), Springwell Druid has been making his mark on the hunter world for quite a long time. Hugely successful in working hunter, equitation and hunter hack classes, this stallion possesses a huge, scopey jump, making him the ideal sire for any horse you want to really 'fly' over those obstacles. In his later days, he was extremely successful in hand, competing side by side with his progeny, and many other much younger horses.
THE PEDIGREE: Springwell Druid combines some of the best old Irish Draught bloodlines around. He is a son of Sea Crest, a Grade "A" RID show jumper, who won at all major shows throughout Ireland in his time, including 3rd in Millstreet Young Irelander, 2nd in the 4 Year Old Discovery Ireland. He has twenty five progeny eventing and show jumping at international level, including Cruising (tenth in the world and the third leading stallion), Hoochi Koochi (Spanish Team at the Atlanta Olympics and Spanish Champion), Nires Crest (Scandinavian Champion), and many others. Sea Crest has fifty four winners of sixty five classes and many placings at the R.D.S. horse show, (in show jumping, performance, and showing classes). His progeny are extremely sought after in the world today. Springwell Druid is out of Pink Carnation (by Goleen), who was a prolific show mare, and dam of the famous Gort Boy.
"Springwell Athenwry", Springwell Druid's only daughter currently in All Sim, a CCI*** Advanced Eventer
THE LEGACY: Springwell Druid was considered a sire of the finest quality in his days in Equine Sense. Sadly, the majority of his progeny have been "lost" in SIM. Thankfully, a special few carry on his legacy. Springwell Athenwry is also owned by Saraid. This 1995 mare from Springwell Henessey (by Touch Of The Blues (Blue Rajah x Seafin Lady) and from The Thatcherite (Pride Of Shaunlara x Mrs Thatcher) is a super CCI*** (Advanced) Level Eventer, still doing the rounds as a sixteen year old at the All Sim Horse Trials Association. She has proven a hugely successful competitor since the early 2000's, and demonstrates Springwell Druid's ability to sire extremely fine sporthorses, both hunters and otherwise. Springwell Druid also has a special few grandprogeny through his daughter Springwell Athenwry. Saraid Bosca Gainimh is a Irish Sport Horse filly (3/4 Irish Draught) from BBS Sandmann who was sold to Erin Shamrock in 2011. She is proving an excellent eventing prospect. Cian, is a superb eventing-trained Irish Sport Horse by the formidable Affirmed son, Mighty Forum. She has been ripping it up at the HTA for Saraid for a couple of months now in lower level competitions and is doing great. SGC Spring Wind, another new addition owned by Mallory, is also out of Springwell Athenwry, by Glidawn Diamond son, BBS King Nothing. She is Springwell Athenwry's first purebred foal, and is just starting her eventing career.
"Cian", an Irish Sport Horse daughter of Springwell Athenwry by Mighty Forum, and granddaughter of Springwell Druid
